In this episode I de-bunk the myths that 4 types of commonly believed to be healthy foods are actually healthy and/or beneficial for the lean lifestyle.
1) Sugar-Free / Artificially Sweetened Foods & drinks
2) Soy
3) Whole Wheat Bread
4) Granola Bars

As promised below you’ll find the “Yuck List” that you can take to the grocery store and make sure that none of the foods you’re buying contain any of these:

Ingredients to Avoid: (“The Yuck List”)
High Fructose Corn Syrup
Corn Syrup (any variation of)
Sugar
Fructose
Dextrose
Galactos
Ethyl Maltol
Fruit Juice Concentrate
Artificial Sweeteners or Coloring
Sucralose
Aspartame
Any of the other names for sugar (there are lots!)
Canola Oil
Rapeseed Oil
Corn Oil
Soybean Oil
Soy Lethicin
Soy Protein
Soy of any type
Enriched wheat flour
MSG (monosodium glutamate)

There are certainly more, but this handy little list will help start you in the right direction.
As a rule of thumb, “If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it”.

Most of the foods that are best for weight-loss and living lean don’t even come with a nutrition label.

  1. There is a different of wheat flour and 100 percent whole wheat. Wheat flour is a blend of white and brown flour

  2. Thank you for providing alternates to those sneaky "health" foods. My personal favorite is/was soymilk even though the box says "non-gmo". I hope to start sticking to coconut milk instead from now on. Thanks again, Jessica!

  3. So, how do you balance hormones? I hear so many different things about that. I was just diagnosed with PCOS.

  4. If you are worried about hormones cut out dairy as well, it is chock full with another animals hormones, and look for non-GMO soy products

  5. Just to let you know some of the Ezekiel breads have soy in them. I chose the english muffins – no soy. Always read the ingredients.

  6. I know this may come off sounding creepy, but you have one of the most astounding faces I have ever seen; holy s**t wow
