What are probiotics?

Probiotics are essentially the good gut bacteria that live in our gut and lines our digestive tract.

There are 2 main types of probiotics that are beneficial for a healthy gut and overall health. These are:

Lactobacillus – This probiotic is a natural protector against invasion within the gut by pathogens, and helps treat such problems as diarrhea and skin disorder like eczema.

Bifidobacterium – This is a bacteria that helps intestinal function and protects against things like e-Coli and salmonella by basically crowding out the pathogens within the gut.

Any probiotics for weight loss supplements that you purchase should contain these 2 strains of good, friendly bacteria.

Probiotics have been linked to numerous health benefits, including:

Adding these into your diet regularly will ensure you have a good balance of good vs. bad bacteria, leading to a healthy gut.

#2 – Supplements – When you’re looking for the best probiotics for weight loss, you can find literally hundreds of probiotics products available on Amazon.

You should make sure that whichever one you choose, that they contain the 2 main streams of bacteria that I advised you on above, Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium.

What causes problems with gut bacteria?

Sugar – Eating too much sugar in your diet allows bad bacteria to grow and thrive. It also increases the likelihood of an increase in yeast, particularly Candida.

Candida has been linked to all sorts of health issues, including joint problems, weight gain, mood swings, low energy, and digestive issues.

Antibiotics – Although antibiotics have become one of the biggest breakthroughs in modern medicine, they can have a negative side effect on your gut bacteria.

When you use antibiotics to kill off infections, they kill off good bacteria as well as bad. This leads to an upset in the balance of your digestive tract flora.

If you have a history of antibiotic use, you should start to use probiotics to balance out the effects and realign your gut bacteria.

Alcohol and other medications can also have a negative effect on your gut bacteria, so along with cutting these out whenever possible, using probiotics to balance any negative effects will be a great idea and very beneficial.

  1. Check out ollipop soda. It is low carb and has pro and prebiotics. It seems too good to be true. I like the root beer and orange cream soda.

  2. Thanks for sharing this! To add to this, there are advantages and disadvantages to taking soil-based probiotics.  For example, soil-based probiotics are more spore-forming.  The spore creates a protective barrier so that the microorganisms are more likely to travel through the stomach without being destroyed by stomach acid.  So they are more likely to attach in the gut, and be effective.  On the other hand, this can be a negative if the microorganism causes an infection, because it is then more resistant to an antibiotic that may be needed to treat the infection!

  3. I take probiotics pills and enzymes wow it has help with my bloating, and I go to the restroom a lot now, every time I eat.. I highly recommend also I drink water throughout the day.. Now that I think about it I don’t crave sugar as I used too.

  5. So i am a woman, i watched this because i have a flora unbalance, dr gave med , can i combat the negative affect of the med with just food, yogurt, sauerkraut ect, or do i need to buy probiotics? And should i take these right away or wait a couple of days, for the med to do its job?

  6. After watching videos about gut health, I bought what was reviewed as one of the better one. That was a week and a half ago, and let me tell you, this is NO JOKE. While have lost a few pounds over the last week, it is the combination of smaller things really stand out. I am bouncing out of bed well before the alarm is set to sound. My mood is through the roof, and the bloating is WAY down. Blood pressure is down a couple of points. Mental clarity is my improved. I am regular again for the first time since a hernia operation a year ago (which I think is the point things went really south for my gut.) The best thing is that, at least for now, every day or two,it feels like I have stepped up another plateau. While I am sure that this effect won't continue indefinitely, it is nice for the time being, and I know I do t want to go back to how I felt at the beginning of this month. I don't think a lot of folks realize just how crappy they feel because it is their normal mode of operation. If you are thinking about taking a probiotic, I highly recommend it.

  7. Hey doc… I always get a good probiotic product and I use it to ferment my own veggies at home in a salt brine… you only need 1 capsule which saves people money and you can use the salt brine to start new ferments if you like.
