In this video, Doctor Andrea Furlan explains that there is a relationship between what we eat and pain. Chronic inflammation may lead to chronic pain, and there are nutrients in our Western diet that predispose to more inflammation. People with autoimmune diseases are prone to more inflammation because their immune system is attacking their own cells using inflammation. We don’t know if fibromyalgia is an autoimmune disease or not, but people with fibromyalgia have more inflammatory markers than people without fibromyalgia.
Changing their diet has a great impact on chronic inflammation. Doctor Furlan explains strategies to change eating habits and how to incorporate an anti-inflammatory diet:

  3. Thank you for this video, very helpful. I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis recently. I am on medication, however I still have lots of painful episodes. My diet is not great. I really need to try and change this. Will try this very soon and hope it helps!!

  5. I was on a anti-inflammatory diet few yrs ago. I was jumping over the doggy door , I had the stamina of a 20 yrs old. I quit bc I was stupid. Now I walk like a 80 yrs old and I come down the stairs sideways like I’m disable. My body is in pain from morning to night time and even during sleep
    I wake ip in pain. I am slim and look ok for my age , nobody suspect what hell I am living just bc I’m stupid.

  7. Moat of my diet is vegetables, fruit, fish (no batter), skim milk, eggs, legumes, chicken, some beef or pork . I stay away from processed food

  8. I found out the hard way that tapioca and cassava are EXTREMELY disruptive to thyroid hormones. Those two are far more problematic (by a factor of 10-100!) than other disruptive foods for thyroid. Be very careful what gluten-free foods and flours you are eating – many are very high in either tapioca or cassava, or both. And don't eat cassava chips!
